Cambodia scaled up combination HIV prevention and testing services to 94142 people from key populations using innovative and differentiated approaches, including virtual outreach initiatives, thanks to the technical and financial support by the Joint Team (UNODC, WHO, UNAIDS Secretariat). Government- and community-led pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) services were also scaled up to 21 sites in 11 provinces and a cumulative 7211 people, primarily key populations accessed PrEP through these sites by the end of 2022 with a 53% retention rate (WHO, UNAIDS Secretariat).
Antiretroviral treatment (ART) services were strengthened with the revision of treatment guidelines and standard operating procedures; scale up of same day initiation and multi-month dispensing of ART; regimen optimization as well as implementation of pilot point-of-care viral load testing programme for mothers and HIV exposed infants (WHO, UNAIDS Secretariat). Additionally, Battambang, Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Banteay Meanchey Provincial AIDS Committees developed Fast-Track City Strategic Plans to promote and scale up people-centred HIV and health service through technical support from the Joint Team (UNAIDS Secretariat).
In 2022, 583 people living with HIV and people from key populations were registered in the IDPoor programme improving their access to free healthcare and other social protection schemes (UNDP, UNAIDS Secretariat).
A total of 649 teachers and principals from 359 schools in eight provinces received virtual training on comprehensive sexuality education. A youth-friendly mobile app was also launched to scale up access to comprehensive sexuality education, mental health services for young people. In addition, over 250 555 young people were further sensitized on the prevention and elimination of violence against women and girls via the UN Youth Advisory Panel (UNYAP) Facebook campaign (UNFPA).
Cambodia joined the Global Partnership for Action to Eliminate all Forms of HIV-Related Stigma and Discrimination.
In 2022, the Joint Forum of Networks of People Living with HIV and Most at-Risk Populations (FoNPAM) and District Forum of Networks of People Living with HIV and Most at Risk Populations (DoNPAM) implemented community-led monitoring capacitating 52 people living with HIV and people from key populations and with technical support from the Joint Team. Additionally, 20 community leaders received training on comprehensive leadership, evidence-based advocacy, and community mobilization (UNAIDS Secretariat).
