In 2022, the Joint Team in China significantly contributed to the implementation of the strategic pillars of “People and Prosperity” and “Partnership” in the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSCDF) 2021-2025, ensured the UN Delivering as One and continued supporting the country to strengthen HIV prevention, testing, treatment, and care services for its citizens as well as playing a pivotal role in cooperating with developing countries to end AIDS.
The National Center for AIDS/STD Control and Prevention for the first time in 2022 disclosed information on AIDS-related deaths. The Government also included Dolutegravir as second-line treatment regimen in the National Free Antiretroviral Treatment programme starting from 2023, which will benefit more than one million people living with HIV in China (WHO, UNAIDS Secretariat). Additionally, the National Health Commission launched the National action plan for the elimination of mother-to-child transmission of HIV of HIV, syphilis and hepatitis B by 2025 (UNICEF, WHO, UNAIDS Secretariat).
In the areas of HIV prevention, more than 120 college students joined an online dialogue on youth health and HIV prevention, drawing more than 4 million views on Chinese social media. In addition, 20 AMAZE videos on comprehensive sexuality education (CSE) in sign language were released to promote HIV services and CSE among people with disabilities (UNFPA, UNESCO, UNAIDS Secretariat).
Hundreds of college students and representatives of community-based organizations joined the 2022 Zero Discrimination Day exhibition under the theme Symbiosis, Solidarity and Sustainability (UN Women, ILO, UNAIDS Secretariat).
